Nature

When you travel with Mr. Smithson, co-head of the TKA Science Dept and teacher for AP Biology, Marine Science and Environmental Science, you need to expect to develop a greater appreciation of God's creation wherever you go. Students are encouraged to look around them and notice the different wildlife here in Belize. And so we are creating this special Nature page to highlight what we have seen. Here is a list of local critters that we have come across. And please check out our Nature Photo Album as well!

  • Moths
  • Gecko
  • Tree frog
  • Glowing click beetle
  • Iguana
  • Spiders
  • Scorpions
  • Toad
  • Howler monkey - up in the tree just on the edge of the Jaguar Creek property
  • Giant red-winged grasshopper
  • Leafcutter ants
  • And then the birds... we all know Mr. Smithson knows much about feathered creatures, but it turns out Ms. Sandquist is quite the birder too!

    • American Redstart
    • Aracari (small tucan)
