PRAYERS

If you would like to partner with us in prayer, we would appreciate it greatly. 

Prayer requests for Saturday - traveling home:

  • Praises that we were privileged to be to visit Xunantunich, ancient Mayan ruins on Friday.
  • Pray for the logistics of our travel day, with early wake up and breakfast and getting to the airport on time.
  • Pray for health and safety for all as we travel home.
  • Pray that our time together in Belize and everything that we experienced (from the Pathlight presentation, to serving at the school, to the cultural experiences of church and Mayan ruins, to God's amazing creation all around in nature) will last well beyond this week and that we truly develop servant hearts for God's people, near and far. 

Prayer requests for Thursday:

  • Praises that the VBS camp went smoothly today and that kids got to learn and talk openly about Jesus as savior. 
  • Praises for our construction and painting projects are getting completed, even with having to pivot on some of the original plans. 
  • Pray for the sports camp day to show the love of Jesus to the 3rd and 4th graders who have been able to come. 
  • Pray for rest in the heat (did we mention no A/C?) and continued health, hydration and safety for all! 

Prayer requests for Wednesday:

  • Praise God that our TKA students are bonding and enjoying each other’s company! 
  • Praise God for fun interactions with the elementary students today in our art and science camp. 
  • Praises for the generous hearts and physical stamina of our TKA students who lovingly interacted with the Armenia school students and/or worked hard to beautify their school. 
  • Today is our VBS camp! We have a great group putting this on today. Please pray for God to draw Armenia 3rd and 4th graders to Himself as we share songs, God’s Word, and a simple gospel presentation. 
  • Pray for restful sleep in the heat to be ready to serve in the mornings. 

Prayer requests for Tuesday:

  • Praises that our students got to meet Belizean college students their age and hear firsthand testimonies of the difference educational support through Pathlight has been in their lives. 
  • Pray for servant hearts to glorify Jesus and to grow closer to Him and to each other this week. 
  • Pray for unselfish giving with confidence to all the kids coming to the daily camps we are hosting.
  • Pray for continued health, safety and energy in the high heat for the students and adults. 

Prayer requests for Sunday/Monday:

  • Praises for our smooth travel without incident.
  • Praises for the the huge hearts of the welcoming staff of Jaguar Creek who has supported TKA for many years and continues to bless us in serving others.  
  • Pray for the students and adults to get acclimated to the high heat and humility, and for good rest in the evenings.
  • Pray for health and safety while being away from home
  • Pray for our cultural time visiting local churches and appreciation for new experiences

Prayer requests for the start of the trip: 

  • Pray for calm and confident minds and bodies to give the week completely to the Lord, being open to His leading and timing with our service and interactions.
  • Pray for the team to start to get to know each other and form or strengthen friendships.
  • Pray for travel mercies on both Saturdays and health and safety all week for students and adults. 
  • Pray for our continued preparation for activities during our weekday mornings with the local children beginning Tuesday.

Day 6 - Armenia School - Sports Camp + Projects

Another morning here in the jungle of Belize where we are greeted by tropical bird calls and howler monkeys. The heat wave continues, but we are only looking at a high of 92 degrees today. ;) We are heading back to the school right after breakfast for a morning of sports games with the school children. We taught the kids some of our sports we play in the United States, such as kickball, frisbee, and American football. It was a frigid 92 degrees out. Day 4 - Armenia School - Art & Science Camp + Projects

Here we go! We are off to meet the kids at Armenia School and start our first morning camp, along with construction projects. It’s just below 90 degrees at 8 am. The prayers page has been updated and we appreciate all your support! Student posts... By Olivia Chamness Today we woke up, ate some breakfast, and headed to the Armenia Village School. We began to set up our materials for the art and science rotations. I was in charge of Art 1, where we had supplies for the 3rd and 4th graders to create tissue paper collages, drawings, and had other materials they loved like pompoms and pipe cleaners. Many of the girls used pom poms to make butterflies and caterpillars, and the boys tended to make jungle animals and were excited to write “Messi” with his number 10 and a soccer ball. I was immediately impressed with the kids’ manners. With every request they had for me, whether to ask for materials, or cut a pipe cleaner, they always added “Yes, Miss. Thank you Miss Olivia.” I got a few giggle...

Day 7 - Xunantunich

We are wrapping up our final evening here at beautiful Jaguar Creek. We had a fun and informative day at Xunantunich, ancient Mayan ruins. We have started packing for our 7:15 am departure to head to the airport. As it is Good Friday, Mr. Smithson read from scripture focusing on the 2 men on the cross next to Jesus, encouraging us to be like the robber who respond to Jesus with faith.  We continue to covet your prayers for the team as we come back with change hearts for God. We learned about the history of the ruins while also getting to climb to the very top. From up there, we were able to see the border between Belize and Guatemala.
